If you want Magus in your party, ( which you really should cuz' he's REALLY good!!!) don't kill him and ask him to join you. When you are on North Peak, and talk to him, after he talks about Chrono's death, he will ask you if you will fight him or not fight and then he will join you. You either fight him till death, or he can join you, but if you fight him and kill him, he is dead for good and can't be in your party. If you decide to make him in your party,that is a wise thing to do. Trust me.

when you find magus on the cape, he will ask you if you want to fight him. one time i was ignorant and said yes. well, if you do beat him, he dies forever and you cant get him back. but, when he asks you if you want to fight him and you say no, he will eventually join your team. oh and.......if you have trouble finding his best weapon, it is in ozzies hide out in the middle ages. theres one room where ozzie tempts you to take this chest that has and axe hanging above it, ready to hit you. ignore him and almost go to the next room. then he will give up and leave. but then, go back and get the chest. i think its just and ether. but then, directly below the door, push up against the wall and a secret passage way is discovered. go down the passage way, and you will find three chests. 1 with his best weapon, and the other two are his best armor. well, hopefully, i hope everything goes cool with you and hope you get magus. i believe there is a way that you can get his cat he had when he was a kid too. alfador.......
