Does anyone know how to get the 'hidden' characters w/o a gameshark code? -- Game Help, Questions and Answers

The entire list of characters is as follows: Balmung, BlackRose, Elk, Gardenia, Helba, Kite, Marlo, Mia, Mistral, Moonstone, Natsume, Nuke Usagimaru, Orca, Piros, Rachel, Sanjuro Terajima, Ryoko, and Wiseman. See? There are 17 all together!

you have to earn their help by giving them things such as following Piros to watch him slay his monster, or giving Gardenia her love letter from her faithful fans. Mia and Elk you must earn by meeting her at her feild where she will test your strength against an infected monster. ect...
