How do you get ss Gohan so you can use ss 2 and elderkai's unlock potential?

I got ss2 and elder kai's unlock potential, but I can't use them. I'm sure its because I haven't earned a ss 1 with gohan.But how?

Go to freiza on planet namek and defeat him that's how u get ss1. GOOD LUCK
