i got it by beating him on my 1st go and i did not need to destroy it. try this fight him again but this time don't kill the ritual.

to get the gate gardian ritual u have to destroy it or wait until he uses it and get it in the slots. if u dont see it in the sltos then u have probably destroyed to moany of his cards
