I had this hero chao then a white cocoon went around it when the cocoon opened it wasn,t there?

yes they can die

after it evolve into good/bad/neutral after a while it will go back into a cacoon.
then it will either turn back into a baby in a pink cacoon or(if u treated it badly or ignored it) it will go into a grey cacoon and die...
