you can usually have a good opening if you sculpt your own art and display it. the only problem is that you have to unlock the pottery wheel first!

first you have to move every thing in the corner of the house(inside)closest to the bus stop to any other place then move all of the sculptures including the twisty green thing to the room you just emtied and buy a sculpting block (this is not yet unlocked but the gnome cheat down l z r < x then the cheat that is listed above)
and unless you have a higher creativity than the residence have one of them sculpt it if yours is higher then you can sculpt it after that tear down a section of the wall (between showroom and kitchen/dinningroom) buy a cooler (to go in showroom) then choose the fone and scroll down to throw a party(if it is not there wait then try again) p.s. i hope this helped

I suggest putting all of the art on the lot, in the kitchen. Then Serve a meal, and throw a party.
Just get 5 sims into the kitchen
