If your talking about the one on the boat...Then if you use Lulu's black magic and use the thunder on the crane 3 times. You may have to try and work the crane before you can target it. To work it, use Tidus and and move the joystick either left or right to get to the option that says USE CRANE. After the crane works, it infilcts a lot of damage on it, and will you can beat it easily.

if its the crawler get rikku to steal the lunar curtains when shes in over drive mix the lunar crtains and make sure wakka auron and rikku are out then when the mana beam is used they will live and keep them alive
