after you complete a few quests you recall to Aven and madam Diana ( i think ) will give you the rope to climb down. :)

Once you get farther in the game you will be assigned a quest to go to the badlands (I think by Madem Diane). To get there you will need a rope and madem diane will give you one. That's it.

To get the rope just keep playing the game and sometime when you have to talk to one of the people aven they will give you a rope. (rope can only be used in certain places)
