.mpq is a type of file compression Blizzard uses in all of it's games, you can browse the contents of .mpq files by using a program such as WoW MPQ viewer, which you can download at http://zthread.com/pages/ohwow.php

the file that runs *.mpq is called di-ver.exe-txt.
