How do you unlock the door beside the 3 portraits for the dueling challenge?

when you go in the statue at the common room,straight heads to the 3 portraits,ryt?but if you turn left before the 3 portraits you go to a room where you have to cross the gap and to a door but the door is locked so how do you open it?whats in there?

get all 24 cards then it unlocks and in there is a book with pictures of parts of the game...
