how do i cut stumps

i have a silver axe but i still cant cut tree stumps no matter how many times i hit it

Ummmmm......... Hold the A button down for a while b/c since the ax is upgraded you must hold it down until the character turns a bit red. Make sure you face the stump directly and also it may take about 3 or 4 hits to break it so be patient!!! GOOD LUCK!!! =D
