to beat the marionette try using your archers or horsemen. attack from far away and use gort or luke up close and just pour it on!! make sure you have a healer or a lot of medical herbs.

One thing that I suggest is to use characters that hit really hard close-up. As long as you only have characters that are right next to it, and not diagonal from it, it can't cast its Freeze Lvl 3. (Freeze Lvl 3 doesn't work close-range, just like archer attacks.)

I get Anri and Tao to go behind the marionette, archers and knights ll use spears or arrows and atk from far, and luke and gort atk close and there you go!!

I've waited 'til the marionette goes than i pour it on. once i never even got atked by the marionette!!

Alright here is the OFFICIAL way to beat the Marianate. First, Level up all your characters by a lot! Don't know how to do this, well all you have to do is, fight in a battle and when there is only 1 enemy left, just Egress out of there and then just do the battle again! Each time you do this your characters gain EXP and just keep on leveling up! But if you want to do this, your gonna need a LOT of patience.

Then When your ready all you have to do is start the circus battle, and then destroy every enemy except the Dire Clowns and the Marianete. If you want to defeat the Marianete without any damage from any other monster all you have to do is, defeat the Dire Clowns at a distance, with Ken or Hans or something. Then when the Dire Clowns are dead, its formation time!

After defeating EVERYBODY, except the Marionette, heal everyone up and get into position. Take your mages: Tao and Anri and take them to the back of the stage. (But not to close to the Marionette!) Okay! Now your ready for the attack! (Make sure you attack after the Marionette's turn!) Now send in Gort to the Marionette's left and attack, then take Luke and do the same thing, but on the right side, then take Mae and place her in front of the Marionette and attack. After these fellas are done take Anri and place her exactly behind the Marionette (Behind the boxes) and use her strongest FREEZE spell on him. (Be sure to keep Tao AWAY from Anri just in case the Marionette uses FREEZE on Anri so it doesn't hit Tao.) Now for the long-rangers. Take Hans and place him behind either Mae, Luke or Gort and then attack! Do the same with Ken as well.(But only if he is equipped with a spear.) Now take all the healers and place then in a safe place so that THEY don't get hit. You really need them to heal! And keep the others who can't attack because the target is blocked and place them off afar so that they don't get hit too. If Anri dies, just replace her with Tao. And if any melee characters die just replace them too! If you stick with this plan you should be able to win no-problem! Your welcome! :-)
