Why does my sim's icon on the game turn to something else?

If you mean that there is a small red thingamajiggy on your sims icon, that's okay. That means you have recently deleted your sim. Just click on the icon, and it will go away, and your sim will appear.

If you mean the diamond above their head, then I think it means what their mood is. Say if their mood is low, then it's a redish color. But if their in a good mood then it's green.
